"Tasty Gepuk Selection at Medan. 1) Reasonably tasty Ayam Gepuk with cabbage, tempeh, cucumber at the side. 2) Love the spicy Tempoyak style sambal, which could be spicy for most people. 3) The take away order is reasonably straight forward, no need to go through the food ordering app. Similarly the payment. 4) The deep fried cabbage is really tasty, especially once it has been caramelized. Really creative in deep frying the cabbage. 5) Overall the size is sufficient for either big, small or regular eater. 6) The take away pack is stapled, which could be a real health hazard, if the customer does not remove the staple carefully and ended up eating it with the food."

"[22 Jun 2025] Dropped by Ayam Gepuk & Ayam Penyet Medan and left with a full belly and a burning tongue. It was a fiery but satisfying experience. Just be ready to sweat... for real. The chicken was crispy on the outside but still juicy inside, exactly how you’d want it. The sambal was intense, spicy with a decently creamy touch that made it a bit more manageable. Sadly, they didn’t serve any separate peanut sauce, which would’ve been a nice addition to make the sambal creamier. The tempeh was crispy, and the fried tofu had that great combo of a crunchy exterior with a fluffy, soft inside. The only downside was the fried cabbage, which was soggy and didn’t add much to the plate. The real challenge? Trying to eat there on a blazing hot day. Hot weather plus spicy sambal made for an absolute endurance test. Felt like I was in a food battle with my own sweat, LOL."
